Plans for the fields by the River Windrush

May 2014

Cogges will be opening up space along the River Windrush over the coming months.

This is a beautiful natural part of the site and the river is our reason for being here. The path around the fields has been widened and we are working on the clearing of the an old drainage ditch that runs parallel to the fields and into the Norman moat. It's mostly dry at the moment and you can walk along long stretches of it and is rather lovely. Over the coming weeks we will be opening up the first of the fields along the river and putting in a grass maze - this will centre on what we believe are either remnants of fishponds or flax retting beds. Take in the medieval earth movements on your walk and decide for yourself!
