Cogges Heritage Trust is seeking a new Chair of Trustees due to the current Chair’s term of office coming to a close in November 2024. The trust was formed in 2011, and is the charity which cares for and manages Cogges Manor Farm, a unique and diverse historic site, in Witney, West Oxfordshire.
As an independent charity, Cogges Manor Farm is overseen by a dedicated and experienced board of Trustees.
We are seeking an inspirational individual with the experience and dedication to take Cogges forward, lead the Board and support the General Manager and staff team to further drive growth and impact within the local community.
Despite the challenges of the pandemic, and stiff economic headwinds Cogges has continued to invest in the visitor offer and are well placed for the future. This included a significant grant from the National Lottery, which has allowed the charity to improve and add interpretation around the site, make the Manor House more accessible, re-thatch the visitor entrance and improve welfare facilities for our wonderful volunteers. We believe that this investment will allow for expansion of the offer and attract new audiences with the incoming new Chair being pivotal in this exciting next phase of the charity’s history.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, outstanding leadership qualities, and the ability to confidently lead with tact and diplomacy thus encouraging and fostering a collaborative team spirit. The Chair, supported by a team of Trustees, will ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
We are open to your professional background, providing you bring effective experience, enthusiasm, strategic thinking, and an entrepreneurial approach to business. It would be preferable if the successful applicant resides in West Oxfordshire. There will also be the opportunity for a structured handover from the current Chair during his remaining time in office.

Closing date for application: midnight on 8th March 2024.
Commitment: 8 – 10 hours each month with a Board meeting every 3 months (early evenings, online or in person). In addition, there are sub committee meetings which the Chair may also attend.
