The Manor House has now reopened! Come and explore the new storytelling of 1,000 years of history.
A six-week intermediate art course is running every Wednesday from 15th September to 20th October for five adults.
Set in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of Cogges, this course run is aimed at those with some drawing experience, or artists wishing to improve their skills. Course leader Claire Cross will focus more on techniques and different materials.
Week 1: Charcoal. Still life with metal objects from the kitchen. Working fast and expressively using an eraser to ‘draw’ the highlights and shine on objects.
Week 2: Watercolour. Painting the house or garden. Trying the wet-in-wet technique.
Week 3: Colour pencil. A study of leaves, fruit and flowers from the garden. Using colour pencils to draw organic shapes.
Week 4: Pen and ink with white chalk on mid-tone paper. Using photos of the barns and buildings at Cogges we will sketch, then use ink and chalk in this technique ideally suited to portraying buildings.
Week 5: Chalk pastels. Drawing the gardens using photos or sitting out if it's nice enough.
Week 6: Acrylic paint. Painting the surrounding landscape.
This course gives you six 2-hour sessions for a total of £90 per person. Maximum of five people for this course. We are following Social Distancing and COVID advice at all times.
