Thank You

Thank you to everybody who supports Cogges in a multitude of different ways. It is your contribution that will make Cogges strong and ensure it remains protected and accessible for everyone to enjoy.

Witney Educational Foundation
Work on the play area in the entrance courtyard is thanks to the support of the Witney Educational Foundation and includes a bespoke climbing frame and a tractor made by Trevor Stewart Play Equipment of Middle Barton.

John Moore Heritage Services
Permission was granted by West Oxfordshire District Council and English Heritage for the construction of an adventure play area on the site of the original Cogges dwelling, and a wobbly timber bridge over the exposed Norman moat. As Cogges is a heritage site, digging was overseen by an archaeologist from John Moore Heritage Services.

Cooper Construction
A limestone floor has been laid over the existing dirt floor in the west end of the Wheat Barn by Andrew Cooper and his team at Cooper Construction, WItney.
They donated labour and materials to provide a first rate venue for weddings and events.

Wychwood Project & Smiths of Bletchington
Volunteers from the Wychwood Project, based in Enysham repaired and rebuilt dry stone walls. Smiths of Bletchington donated several tonnes of Cotswold Stone and shingle for paths.

Relics of Witney and Little Greene
After consultation with West Oxfordshire District Council’s Conservation Officer, some of the woodwork, gates and barn doors have been painted. The paint is kindly donated by Relics of Witney and Little Greene.

"Relics of Witney Limited and The Little Greene Paint Company are delighted to be able to donate  paint for the new programme of development at Cogges. The Little Greene Paint Company has worked closely with English Heritage for many years using their modern paints in historical settings – perfect for Cogges. At  Relics of Witney Limited, we supply many restoration and decoration materials and so are excited at the prospect of our paint contribution to be used at  the valuable site at Cogges. A local business helping a local landmark."
