Visitor Services Assistant wanted

Are you a friendly sort who loves Cogges as much as we do? We're looking for someone to join this committed team of staff and volunteers who can work weekends to welcome visitors from near and far to our historic farm. Must be willing to muck-in with a whole range of key activities to keep Cogges running smoothly.

Part-time (weekends) Seasonal

Hours:  15 hours per week – weekends

Salary:   £7.50 to £8.00 per hour

This post is on a temporary contract to early November 2019

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting principally to the Operations Manager, this role assists in the delivery of a high class visitor experience. This is a hands-on role, you will be expected to provide cover and support in the key operational aspects of the site at weekends; including visitor welcome, animal handling and animal care, cleanliness and presentation of site and the successful operation of events and activities for visitors.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Visitor Services

  • To ensure the highest possible customer experience for all visitors
  • Welcoming visitors and giving site direction, operating the till, selling entries, season tickets and shop stock, as well as collection of marketing and Gift Aid data.
  • Support the delivery of visitor activities such as animal handling, birthday parties, farm interpretation and other onsite activities.
  • Support the delivery of onsite events including set up, take down and delivery of activities.
  • To provide support as necessary for weddings and any other onsite bookings

Other operational support

  • To support the operations team to ensure that the highest standards of presentation and cleanliness are maintained, including performing cleaning duties
  • Supporting volunteers across the site in the execution of their duties.
  • To ensure the highest standards of animal welfare are executed on a day to day basis including but not limited to, reporting, feeding, cleaning, grooming and exercising.

Essential

  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Approachable and friendly with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to work routine
  • Ability to prioritise multiple activities
  • Attention to detail and good standards of personal presentation
  • Comfortable with all animals
  • Genuine interest in and commitment to the Trust's goals and values.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a customer focused environment
  • Experience of working with young people and volunteers
  • Experience in animal care
  • Clean driving licence
  • Current DBS check
