Trustees wanted for Cogges

Cogges Heritage Trust is the charity which cares for and runs Cogges Manor Farm, a unique historic site in Witney, West Oxfordshire.  It was set up in 2011 and in the last seven years has completely rejuvenated Cogges from a tired, loss-making venture with dwindling visitor numbers to a thriving local destination of international interest.

Cogges Manor Farm is a fascinating place to be involved in. Local people enjoy the calendar of events and the lively café, schools revel in the hands-on approach to learning, and tourists from the UK and further afield come to step into the farm they’ve seen featured in TV programmes.  Cogges is also a popular venue for weddings and parties or as a location for a film or photographic shoot. 

This is a historical gem with a very bright future. With the help of around £1.2m from the Heritage Lottery Fund and other generous grant-makers and donors, Cogges is embarking on a suite of capital improvements, learning programmes and community activities to bring alive 1,000 years of the Farm’s history. The next few years will be hard work, challenging and fun.

Cogges Heritage Trust is looking for new Trustees to add to its well-established Board of Trustees, some of whom will be retiring during the next year.  These are unpaid roles and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who will share our passion, are willing to challenge, bring fresh thinking, new ideas and entrepreneurial qualities to enable Cogges to get better and better.

In particular the Trust is seeking a Finance Director who can provide sound strategic and practical financial advice to the Board and the Director.  The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant and have had substantial experience at a senior level in running a small/medium size organisation.

Property management

In addition the Board of Cogges Heritage Enterprises, the commercial subsidiary of the Trust, is recruiting Directors.  Among the skills and high-level experience it is looking for are:

Catering management

Event organisation
