Drawing inspiration from Cogges’ past, reflecting the issues of the present, and anticipating the priorities of the future, Cogges will be a place to play, relax, learn, work, contribute, enjoy and to explore the themes of food and its production. It will be a lively hub of learning and participation, a valuable and valued local community resource and a high quality visitor attraction.

Everything Cogges does will pass the APPLES test:
Our plans will take time to evolve, but Cogges will return to being an active farmstead, run by a smallholder who will live on site. The animals in the yard and the vegetables in the garden will be reared and grown for food. Through volunteering and training opportunities, courses and workshops, school learning activities and seeing the work first-hand, people will share in the ups and downs of small scale farming and the journey to a more sustainable life.
The 19th century kitchen is at the heart of the Manor House, and a new cafe, The Cafe will serve food that reflects Cogges’ values and uses its seasonal produce and other locally sourced ingredients.
Over time there will be new features helping people to understand how Cogges has developed since Saxon times, how its past residents made a living and how the farm has continually evolved in response to changing fortunes and opportunities.
People will associate Cogges with its heritage, excellence and ethical values. Local people will be invited to start businesses that reflect and enhance the Cogges brand, with the Trust providing the framework within which these profit-generating activities can succeed. New, young and seasoned entrepreneurs will develop businesses that not only provide their own livelihoods and a contribution to Cogges, but employ and offer apprenticeships to local people.
